These are brief summaries of my works completed and works in progress, to date. Enjoy!

No Accounting for Chase
Complete

Chase Tremaine wanted to be a cop when he grew up, but he never expected the work to get this personal.

As the body count mounts, he must figure out who would want to kill Amanda St. Claire, an accountant with no dirty secrets that anyone can find. Not an easy job when the victim is a stranger.

But Amanda St. Claire was the knobby-kneed girl next door, his little sister's best friend. Now she's all grown up and protecting her has become a matter of the heart, not just a part of the job.

It's a war of wills with a hitman on the loose, and sometimes a man has to make a sacrifice or two to get -- to keep -- the woman he wants.

The Dragon Undone
Complete

In the winter just past, a dragon came to the village of Weld. It shattered spirits and bodies alike. It killed Berdhan's brother and left Berdhan himself a broken man, more fond of drink than company. Now the dragons are back again and the village is looking to him to lead.

Chaia, the first breeding female to be born to dragon-kind in centuries, is captured by the humans while practicing her two-legged form. With Berdhan's help, she must find her way home again, but not before they fulfill their roles in an ancient prophecy:

They must unite the worlds of Dragon and Man.

Freedom and Fire
Complete

Years ago, when the last of the sorcerous dri'Tassi were driven from the world, a noble family took in the child left behind by her family. They named her Iya, raised her as one of their own, despite the whispers about her emerald eyes.

Now her home has been invaded by men falsely claiming to be of that tribe. Now, to save her family, to stop the tide of war, and to find answers to the questions of her past, she must journey to a place she knows only from stories.

A desert city of sorcerers that might not exist at all.

Will the friends she makes along the way help her or betray her? Can she resist the temptation to embrace the power within? Is she following her destiny or a path laden with deceit?

The way to the answers lies through the fire...

Fortune's Fool
Complete

Three years ago, Valerie's husband was killed in the line of duty. Now she and her eleven-year-old son have a new home in California's Gold Country.

But the ghosts of the past come back to haunt when her son is accidentally shot with his father's gun. In the race to the hospital, she crosses paths with Dylan Graves, a California Highway Patrolman with skeletons in his own closet he doesn't want to face.

A widow and her son are exactly the sort of people Dylan doesn't need in his life, or so he thinks. Sometimes, the fates have other things in mind. He's just hoping he doesn't end up Fortune's Fool.

Strike A Telling Blow
Work in progress

The empire of Baetica, long favored by the gods, is thriving. Her people are prosperous and lively, her craftsmen talented and her warriors strong.

But gods are mercurial beings and the winds of change have begun to blow.

Now it is up to Nye, one of the city's Machi -- arena-fighting warriors -- and Urban Portumnus, one of the ruling body in the city, to stop the overthrow of the empire, and the pantheon of gods her people have worshipped for so long.

If they fail, the destruction of all they know is certain. If they succeed, immortality may be theirs.

The choice between good and evil is never that easy.

I've also included my short story, "Patchwork", here. It was published in the April-June '03 issue of Chiaroscuro.
